Golconda Fort in Hyderabad

Hyderabad is a vibrant city and is the “Silicon Valley” of India. Golconda Fort in Hyderabad is originally a mud fort which was later reconstructed in stone. The fort has 8 gates or Darwazas and the main gate called the Fatheh Darwaza which meant the Gate of Victory. The fort also includes a palace, a mosque and a parade ground.

Golconda was once the market city for its diamond trade. Diamonds including the Kohinoor diamond, Nur-Ul-Ain diamond, Hope diamond and the Regent diamond belong to the mines in this region.
Highlight of the fort is a light and sound show. The timing of the show is different during summer and winter. Carry plenty of water as it is very hot during day time. The light show in the evening helps to understand the early history of Hyderabad. The show timing is around 6.00pm in the evening. The best time to visit is by 4.00pm in the evening. You can go around the fort and reach the light show by time.
