Thekkady



Thekkady is located in the district of Kerala in Idukki of the Periyar national Park. This place comes under the list of the best tourist spots in the eminent district of Kerala in India. This place sited at the entrance of the Kerala and Tamil Nadu that named as Kumily, which situated 160 miles from Trivandrum. 

The renowned is illustrious for its thick evergreen, semi-evergreen, moist deciduous forests and savanna grass lands. It seems to be the safe place for the herds of elephants, sambar, tigers, gaur, lion-tailed Macaques and Nilgiri Langurs. Some of the tourist spots in this place are mentioned below.

Periyar National Park:
This park covered the region of about seven fifty kilometers that includes a deep evergreen forests. This place has been highlighted for tigers reserve in the year 1978. This located near the Mullaiperiyar Dam, which build across the Periyar River. 

Murikkady:
This place is famous for coffee plantations and spice cultivation that located nearly about five kilometers fro Thekkady.

Boating in Thekkady:
It is the best and foremost activity in Thekkady Lake. One can travel through boats that are available at competitive price. While roaming around the boat one can able to see the animals, which are bathing, resting and drinking water in this lake. The boats are operated by the KTDC along with the Forest Departments. Per day, there are five trips that comprise two hours to roam around the lake with all safety measures.
