Stunning View from Vattakottai Fort


Vattakottai Fort looks like a Circular Fort, which located near the shoreline of Kanyakumari sea shore. It is one of the best tourist spots in this district. This excellent fort is constructed in 18th century.  This fantastic fort is constructed for the coastal defence fortification and also efficiently quarters in the past Travancore Kingdom.

It is assembled under the control of Captain Eustachius De Lannoy. He is an ex-Dutch naval officer of the Dutch East India Company. Previously, he worked as the commander of the Travancore Army, which defeated him in the encounter of Colachel in the 18th century, after he earned the confidence of the Travancore King Marthanda Varma. De Lannoy has erected the world famous fort named as Vattakottai, which part taking as the work of defence-fortifications that he undertook throughout Travancore.

Next, we have a clear glance for structure of this outstanding fort. The entire fort has constructed by the granite blocks. The walls of the fort extended into the sea. It is highly secured tourist spot now that managed by the Indian archaeological department.
 
There are two excellent peculiar features of this fort that we can able to view from the fort. We can able to go through the scene of sea shore on one side and hill views on other side. Another fascinating aspect in close proximity to the site is a beach of black sands.
