The historical Hawa Mahal in Jaipur



The Hawa Mahal is in Jaipur Rajasthan India. It is an important landmark in the city. It is built in Rajputana architecture. The splendid five storey “Palace of the Winds” is a blend of beauty and splendor.

Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh built Hawa Mahal in 1779. This ancient monument is a tourist attraction having 953 small windows. You can reach there in rickshaws, local buses and autos.

The windows in the Mahal are called jharokas. You can peep in from them to see the beautiful city of Jaipur. The main attraction in Hawa Mahal is the cooling chambers.

Tourists come to this place throughout the day. The fun is in climbing up to view Jaipur through the multiple small windows. It is wonderful to enjoy the true charm of this place. 

The Mahal is a pyramid-shaped façade with five stories. The air circulation keeps the palace always cool.
