Rameshwaram Temple



This temple is as old as Ramayanam. This fabulous shrine is located in the area of Rameshwarm, which placed at Ramanathapuram district. This shrine is naturally held at Pamban Paalam that located nearly about fifty kilometers from Sri Lanka. The Pamban atoll is connected to the landscape of India by the Pamban Bridge. Former Indian President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam has born in this holy place and fishing hamlet namely Dhanuskodi.


The foremost pilgrimage of Hindu is Kasi. At the same time, Ramaeshwaram temple is recognized as the South Kasi. Those who are going for pilgrimage to Kasi, in North India, will finish their holy trip in Ramashwaram. The bridge has constructed between, by Lord Rama, Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka is called as “Ram Setu Paalam.”    

This holy atoll is held in Gulf of Mannar in the corner of Indian Peninsula. It believes an event that this bridge has constructed by the Lord Rama. Lord Rama has constructed this bridge to cross the ocean and to reach the destination Lanka to rescues his wife Sita Devi from the Lankan King Ravana. This holy temple also identified as the South Varnasi. 



There are 22 wells proximity to this holy shrine. The water that comes from this wells are so sweet and it seems to be the special features of this wells. As per the puranam of Ramayanam, the Shiva lingam at this place is installed by Lord Rama with Matha Sita, Brother Lakshmana.
